JUBA — The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces ordered members of the Red Belt Movement to join the army and turn over personal and support weapons, a statement seen by Thejubamirror News Desk said. The order, issued by South Sudan People’s Defense Forces Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Dr. Paul Nang Majok, directs a reception committee to deploy to Malual Chaat Barracks to process fighters transferring into the army,

The statement said members who accept will be integrated into the SSPDF. Those who refuse the offer, it warned, will be subject to forcible disarmament “at the earliest time possible.”

The notice also ordered army youth in Greater Warrap to hand over weapons to the SSPDF within 21 days; failure to comply will trigger a comprehensive forcible-disarmament operation, the statement said.

In addition, members of the SPLA-IO were instructed to report to the nearest SSPDF barracks to prepare for the second phase of implementing transitional security arrangements. The statement said SPLA-IO members who do not comply “will be considered hostile forces and will face the full force of the national army.”

The order was signed by South Sudan People’s Defense Forces Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai Koang, director for media and press and SSPDF spokesman.
