KAPOETA The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and the National Security Service (NSS) repelled coordinated attacks launched by the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-In Opposition (SPLA-IO) and the National Salvation Front (NAS) in Kapoeta, military sources said Thursday.

According to officials on the ground, the armed opposition groups staged simultaneous assaults on SSPDF and NSS bases in Kapoeta. However, government troops managed to push them back after heavy confrontations.

“The attackers were forced to withdraw after they were driven out of the SSPDF military barracks and the National Security base. The situation is now fully under the control of SSPDF and NSS,” a security sources on the ground  told The Juba Mirror News.
