The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Yei, His Lordship Alex Lo’diong Sakor Eyobo, together with the Vice Superior General of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) Missionaries and Holy Family Parish Priest in Lainya, Fr. Andrew, arrived at the spot where a Kenyan civil engineer working with the Salesians of Don Bosco was gunned down in a recent ambush.
The deadly attack occurred in the morning of Thursday, July 31, along the Morobo-Kaya Road. James Karigi lost his life in what has been described
as a deadly ambush. He was a civil engineer for the Salesians of Don Bosco and was traveling for mission work.
Bishop Alex presided over a sacramental ceremony at the exact location where the ambush took place during the visit. The gesture was one of spiritual remembrance and solidarity with the deceased Karigi
He said the Diocese, in collaboration with the Salesians and the whole Catholic community, mourns the loss of James Karigi and prays for peace and security on the roads for all mission and humanitarian workers
