Yakani condemns  killings of 16 year  old  disabled girl in Juba Capital

JUBA – A gun man who is still at large in South Sudan’s capital Juba has opened fire and killed a 16-year-old girl who was sitting nearby when she was attacked.

The unnamed girl was shot dead last week in Gudele when the attacker opened fire on her while sitting.

“She was sitting and then a man with a riffle came and opened fire on her and she died immediately and the police have not arrested the culprit,” the eyewitness who requested not to be identified said.

In a statement, the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress organization (CEPO) condemned the killing and urged the government and police authorities to step up efforts to bring to justice those behind the act.

“CEPO strongly condemns this criminal act and urges the government to intervene through independent and accurate investigations process,” Yakani said in a statement obtained  by Thejubamirror news Desk.

“The trend of extrajudicial killing of persons with disabilities and especially girls and young ladies is disturbing,” he added.

The outspoken activist further said his organization is worried in the lack of protection for people with disabilities
