The South Sudanese Women intellectuals forum condemn beating and stabbing of Ms, Aluel

The South Sudanese Women Intellectuals Forum would like to condemn in the strongest term the beating and stabbing of Ms. Aluel, who is a football player and also known as Messi.

Ms. Aluel was beaten and stabbed by her husband, Hon. Peter Mayen, the National Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Republic of South Sudan.

This is Gender-Based Violence which is one of the worst forms of violence perpetrated towards women. The women of South Sudan cannot stand by and watch quietly as such acts are perpetrated by those who are supposed to represent us as a country and to defend the citizens of South Sudan.

The women of South Sudan are saddened by the fact that Hon. Peter Mayen, who is supposed to promote the rights of women in our country is instead violating and abusing these rights.

Any act of violence against women or any citizen of South Sudan shall be considered unacceptable. We strongly condemn this act and call upon the government of South Sudan to take the necessary actions against the perpetrator.

The South Sudanese Women Intellectuals will continue to stand for the rights of all to be protected against any forms of abuse.

We hope that justice will prevail.

Together we can!
