The Democratic Resistance Movement (DRM) condemns horrific killings of civilians in Tambura of western Equatoria State.
We have been following with great concern
the unfolding mayhem that has engulfed the communities in some parts western Equatoria State
These communities were exemplary
in cordial relations and peacefid
coexistence before the regime took power in South Sudan. The Sudan People’s
Liberation Movement (SPLM) party has chosen a divide and rule policy to cling
to power. We have seen the same scenario in the Greater Pibor Adminishative
Area (GPAA) in March last year. Before that, we saw it being implemented in
Upper Nile state with dire consequences to the local communities.
The so-called Revitalised Transitional Government of National Udty ftTGoU)
is doiag the same by replicating the above sceoarios in Western Equatcria State.
It should be recalled that; during the frghting in the GPAA last year, President
Kiir said’he would assemble his small amcy around him in Juba and tet the fight
continue until one side is chased away.’ It’s not mer€ irresponsibility frorn the
President, who is supposed to regard the safety and security of his citizens as a
top priority. But as stated above, it’s a policy adhered to by the state, piuing
communities against each other to survive.
The Democratic Resistance Movement (DRM) condemns in &e strongest terms
possible the proxy war carried out by the regime against our people in Westem
Equatoria State. We urge the community leaders and intellectuals across the
divide to expose the malicious plots and enlighten the masses. Statememt from the Spokesman and Chairman of the information committee
