SSPDF detained, tortured civilian driver for over taking army convoy

News reaching our news desk indicates that a civilian was arrested, tortured and detained by South Sudan army in Wau for allegedly over a military convoy in Wau, Northern Bhar El Ghazal State.
Ugwaak said that his vehicle collided with a military vehicle while driving on the road in Wau.
After the collision, the army officers rounded him up, taking him to a military station nearby.
According to Ugwaak, he was beaten up by military officers and was detained at Division Five Military Barack in Wau.
He alleges that he was charged SSP162, 000 to be freed.
South Sudan has experienced military brutality against civilians since the conflict began in 2013, many civilians have been arbitrarily arrested, detained, and tortured under unclear circumstances.
Last week, a civilian in Ruweng Administrative Area had his arms amputated after he was tortured and detained by SSPDF station in Parieng, Ruweng Administrative Area capital.
