SPLM/A High Command And Political Bureau At The Lose Ultimate  Rift  :

BY  Daniel Dengdit

The formation of SPLM/A in 1983 adopted a socialist ideology of Karl Marx’s nature of leadership where the leadership circulated the elites. Socialism ideologies are as a protest against the inhuman of unregulated, raw capitalism. Decrying private property, individuals ownership, and selfishness. socialism is founded on three principles:
( 1) Public ownership of production.
(2) The welfare state, and (3) Equality and sharing the abundance.
Late John Garang knew Marx’s theory and thought that people’s ideas are conditioned by the economic environment and that economic change stimulates a forthright conflict between those ruling and those ruled in society. Late Garang was the chairman of the High Command followed by Kuanyin, Nyuon, Salva, and Arok, and on the other hand of the political Bureau side (PB), Majier and Oduok were operating the political bureau show which was abolished after the rift of 1990s.

Karl Marx’s ideology of proletarianism against capitalism was popular within the South and the marginalized communities in the movement to uproot the Islamic aristocracies in Khartoum. Salva the current president and the chairman of the SPLM and Political Bureau was number four among seven members of the permanent council while those of Kuoldit and Awetdit were members of the lieutenant Alternate command council in the hierarchy. The high Command was composed of 13 commanders members who represent and accommodate all the communities in the liberation struggle. When most of the SPLM/A High Command and Political Bureau died because of the first rift, the party adopted the idea of handpicking members to fill the vacant instead of election. Hand-picking makes the Political Bureau bureaucracy obsolete and last loses political decision-making in the hand of the current SPLM party chairman. When late Dr. John Garang, first president of autonomous Southern Sudan and first vice president of Sudan, passed on (RIP), president Salva was picked/appointed based on socialists ideology of consensus where everything concerning leadership remains capitalist in the hands of individuals trusted by the Political Bureau and High Command members. Kiir became the president of an autonomous region in Southern Sudan and at the same time vice president of Sudan with little knowledge of political affairs of the 21st century, while followed by Dr. Riek as the second command in the political politics of the Southern leadership. In 2011 South Sudanese voted against the unity of Sudan and chose independence, which was supported by regions, continental and the international community for the betterment of South Sudanese political democratization in the future. Ideally, the political landscape changed after independence.

President Salva chose to work against his colleagues of the liberation movements that is the Political Bureau, and high command. He chose closed relatives allies and family members to be his political surveillance and guided his political survival. This political surveillance is other than his family members of the National Congress Party (NCP), which have involved their partners from other communities. NCP turned SPLM/A convert and become a ‘thorn in the flash’ in the country. 2013 have shown president Salva denuded side of his political incompatibility to the public and the international community of conflict that would have been resolved at the party leadership. His insecure tenancy in the hands of political bureaucracy and high command influences him to a trained militia known as Mathiang Anyor which committed crimes against humanity across the country in the aftermath of 2013. Since 2013, political temperatures have been cravings within the SPLM/A. Political party’s politics has changed drastically that put NCP-SPLM converted con men into J-One decision revision of the SPLM where the country should go. Dr. Riek formed his own SPLM/A-IO as a resulted of an in-fighting party war against members who question the direction taken by current leadership and issues facing the country. The peace agreement has brought back Dr. Riek to Juba with no army to make him raise his muscles and voice. 2016 is a lesson that can’t be said here. All political parties have assimilated their political interests to J-one for the search of green pasture because of financial support, that central bank, customs authority, Nilpet, and other sources of economies are controlled by Kiir’s relatives. As the international community and the region are more concerned than the president of the country (Kiir) on things about humanitarian crises such as flooding, human rights violations, the democratic election for a peaceful transfer of leadership in the country.

The president is confined in J-one not bothering himself with the current affairs of the country and the SPLM party as well. A peace agreement was signed and lead to the formation of the unfinished formation of the country government hoping that the president will show the political will to reckon the suffering of citizens. The formation has taken one year and one month with no tangible political consensus on military unification, Legislative Assembly, and judiciary formation. The American new administration has cleaned up the mess of the former president within a week rather than 100 days. This tells the world that the backwardness of KiiRiek’s administration needs immediate intervention for a lasting solution. As many people called the president a Juba mayor and the president of Juba, a phrase used to challenge Kiir’s political commitment to convince the world of his energy to run the show on flexibility, legality, and functionality of his administration. The recent rift within the political Bureau and the fragmented political bureaucracy were Awetdit and Kuoldit spoke out their minds in frustrations against Kiirdit and NCP-SPLM converted control of J-one was foreseen long before it happened by the civil society activists, international community leaders, and recently by JCE advocate of KiiRiek’s exit from the reign of governing the country. The aforementioned see the possibility of total anarchy, and the collapse of the country, which needs an immediate and emergency diagnose.

President Salva ignored these voices slightly because of few individuals banging the economic leverage of the country. The Collapsed of the country has shown indicators that are invisible for those who are within the executive in a way but very visible and clear with outsiders. Surprisingly, Kiirdit, Kuoldit, and Awet are the only Dinka’s who still alive in high command, they have chased far away none Dinka to the core of the party and silenced any member of the political bureau, they have monopolized decision-makings of the political Bureau bureaucracy and they have a corruptions questions to answer when change comes. Kuoldit and Awetdit have said clearly that they have eroded the country and are incapable to renew the mess created by the 2013 war which killed more than 300,000 innocent lives. Now that the rift within the political class, elites and peasants are here! Margaret Thatcher says, ‘ you can’t enjoy the fruits of efforts without first making the effort ‘. Blending socialists ideology with military commanders turned politicians caused political potential gimmicks to end.
