Simon Gatwech Dual turns down the appointment as the Presidential Advisor for Peace.

Few hours after the appointment of 1st Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual the Chief of SPLA IO as the Presidential Advisor for peace was welcome and cheered but Unfortunately 1st Lt. Gen. Simon Gatwech Dual rejected the appointment, he said that all he want is the peace to be implemented.

My appointment as Presidential Advisor for peace will not help unite the country and it will put my Movement of change into the trash bin of “Peace implementation delay tactic” which is absolutely against the Revitalized Peace agreement.

I can advise President Salva Kiir from Magenis through FVP Dr. Riek Machar Teny and as the citizen of the Republic of South Sudan who love peace I have been doing the same responsibility regardless of being appointed into the office with V8 and 2 bodyguards and nothing’s really going.

Things aren’t moving the way they should, hence i would like to stay in Magenis and play my role where I will be able to engage the forces to unite for the better future of South Sudan.

We need peace and not games, it’s time for peace, South Sudan doesn’t need an Advisor for peace when Revitalized Peace Agreement stipulated everything including the steps and the initiatives that could bring peace.

What we need is the political will to implement the agreement, he said

Stay Tuned.
