Ruweng Chief travels to Ruweng, promises to address insecurity, oil pollution in the area
Ruweng Chief Administrator Peter Dau Chopkuer left this afternoon for Ruweng Administrative Area.
While speaking to a cheering crowd at the Ruweng Coordination office in Juba, Peter pleaded to tackle the rampant raids in Ruweng by cattle rustlers from neighbouring Unity State.
Accompanied by the national Minister of Roads and Bridges, Simon Mijok and other senior Ruweng politicians, Peter is expected to inspect various oil fields in the area.
It’s Peter’s first visit to the oil-rich area since his appointment on June 8th when South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit fired former adminstrator William Chol Awanlith and appointed Peter Dau Chopkuer as the new replacement.
