Mangburu -Tombura Road  Ambush leaves  3  dead, other injured

Today, Jan. 1, 2022, morning, the Balanda SPLA-IO militia in Tombura shot died three people in Mangburu area on Tombura Yambio road, about 10km from the town center.

The victims include two females who were traveling from Tombura to Yambio on a boda boda motorcycle and were targeted by the Balanda SPLA-IO militia group. Another victim is a male who was taking cassava flour for sell to Tombura on a bicycle. He was shot to death by the same group. All the three dead bodies are from the Azande Ethnic group and have been brought to Tombura center by the SSPDF soldiers who went there to investigate the killing.

It is reported that only two people survived the attack; a  baby belonging to one female victim and the boda rider.

In November 2021, the Joint Defense Board (JBD) called all the armed groups in Tombura to go to Maridi for screening and training. The Balanda SPLA-IO Militia in the county refused to go and are now suspected by the larger public to be the suspects behind these killings.

Tombura of Western Equatoria State has been under insurgency  since SPLM-IO  Governor  took over the state .

Intellectuals  of Western Equatoria State are calling the central government  to intervened  to avoid ethnic and targets killings in the state .

Authorities  in Western  Equatoria State  are yet to respond.
