Man dies in Military police cell in Warawar, Aweil East, four officers detained in connection to his death
A man in his twenties has died at a Military police cell in Warawar town, Aweil East county this morning after being reportedly picked from a local lodge and detained by members of organized forces. The deceased is said to have arrived from Khartoum that [Monday] evening.
Eye witnesses at the Lodge told Talk of Juba that the deceased was picked by National security personnel on accusations that he ‘looked like a thief’
“He booked the room and paid the money in the lodge. He then went to the market and when he returned to the lodge, the NSS officer who was accommodated in the same lodge prevented him from entering and then started calling personnel from the MI and police. They then took him to the custody at 11:45PM and in the morning, he was found dead. They have beaten him, he was given a bad torturing,” An eye witness told Talk of Juba.
Head of Military police in Warawar Lt Colonel Garang Garang confirmed the death and added that four officers have been detained pending investigation.
The body was taken to Malualkon hospital for Postmortem and doctors’ examinations revealed the deceased died of respiratory system failure, chest and abdominal swelling and a marked circle in the neck.
“The above mentioned reasons are what we believed have killed him,” Dr. Ring Yak, the head of county health department told Talk of Juba.
