Dear citizens don’t pay your ears to this framed decision by the government that they have revoked the country’s 10th independence anniversary because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

This cancelation of 9 July is being politically motivated and subsequently, it might have related to security issues. Otherwise, if it’s because of the Pandemic, then it is a hoax!

Last year in October we celebrated the Sudan peace agreement with an estimated one million attendees in Dr. Garang Mausoleum. And by then, the cases of pandemics were at a high peak. Many regional leaders were visited to attend the celebration.

Also this year in May, Eid Ramadan was celebrated countrywide and there was nothing like such kind. The only condition which the government gave, was to let everyone adhered to precautionary measures such as wearing facemasks and so on.

This nullification of 9 July is not only against the freedom of the people of South Sudan but also is an embarrassment to the country.

We citizens of South Sudan have unlimited right to celebrate our independence day without interference because it is our constitutional right to do so. Whatever fishy in the government’s administration has nothing to do with our right to celebrate our independence.

End!
