“I Blame Their Parents And Religious Leaders” – John Ndungu Reacts To Wedding Between Two Teenagers

Shocking scene as two South Sudanese teenagers, identified as Buomkuoth Wiyual and Nyabuay Thiol Biel, gets married.

Buomkuoth Wiyual, aged16, and his 15-year-old partner Nyabuay Thiol Biel got married on December 18, this year, in Gambella, Ethiopia.

According to information gathered, the ceremony was graced and blessed by both parents and religious leaders.

The local media reported that the legal age to get married in South Sudan is eighteen (18).

The underage couple’s wedding pictures have been making waves on social media, especially on Facebook with many condemning the arranged marriage.

One commenter, identified as John Ndungu, who was also condemning the marriage between the two teenagers, blamed the parents and religious leaders who supported the marriage.

Below is the comment that was written by John Ndungu, standing against the joining together of these two underage newly-wedded couple.

“I blame the parents and the religious leaders. They’re supposed to be role models and mentors to young generations. Some parents are so materialistic, I say this because the girl’s parents I’m very sure were after the dowry which in Sudanese culture is a hefty amount of money or herds of cattle,” John Ndungu wrote.

“Where will the teens start life from? No education completed I’m sure. How will they take care of themselves in terms of basic necessities? No job, no money, education cut short, I pity the girl #NyabuayThiolBiel, she will be made a mother at a very tender age. No mother experience and all that,” he continued.

“The organizing committee failed them too, look at the trouser Buomkuoth is wearing, it’s short, too short on his wedding day putting on a trouser like that surely? And the bride bleached the face alone and forgot other body parts,” he said.

This is nothing different from child marriage as child marriage is a formal marriage or informal union of children before under the age of 18. This marriage is void.
