Heavy gunfire exchange in Juba’s Jebel Dinka displaces over 100 people, casualties are unclear

Heavy exchange of gun fire in Jebel Dinka residential area this morning between Mundari communities at around 6:34 and lasted about an hour has left over 100 residents Displaced amidst the heavy downpour.

An eye witness tells Talk of Juba that the sectional conflict follows attacks on a cattle camp behind Jebel Teman residential area four days ago.

“We the residents of Jebel Dinka urge the Central Equatoria state together with the national government to immediately intervene an escalation of this bloody sectional conflicts
And ask them to help give humanitarian assistance to the internal displaced people (IDPs) who ran out of their homes to seek safety in New Rambur and Elite Primary schools without mosquito nets and food stuff,” the resident said.

“Those in New Rambur Primary school are more than 80 people and most of these are Women and children while those in Elite Primary school are more than 30,” he added.

Fighting has since stopped following an intervention by SSPDF who rushed to the scene but residents are in fear that violence may resume as soon as rain stops.
