From Refugee Camp, to fighting-off early child marriage, Dudi Teresa defy odds to become a journalist, promises to become voice of young refugee girls
Dudi Teresa, a young female refugee from Kakuma Refugee Camp is a strong lady who defied all odds to make her dream come true. While speaking to Hot in Juba at her graduation ceremony in Nairobi, Kenya, Dudi said that she has always wanted to be a journalist.
“I have always wanted to be journalist and to be one voice of young refugees in the camp. I have faced alot of challenges during my studies,” she said.
Dudi graduated after 6 years at University of Nairobi with Bachelor Degree in Mass communication and Journalism, majoring in Electronic media.
Born and raised in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Dudi faced many challenges, including early child marriage. She told HIJ that her uncles wanted her married off but her mother stood with her stopping a practice young South Sudanese face in Kakuma.
She urges parents to invest in their girls and appeals to parents to shun early child marriage.
