“This statement serves to inform own forces and public at large that Gen. Thoi Chany Reat didn’t visit Magenis as alleged.”
Sudan army has denied a report by Sudans Post on Sunday in which several opposition officers allied to General Simon Gatwech Dual were quoted as confirming an alleged visit to Magenis by a huge South Sudan army delegation.
In the report, an unnamed senior South Sudan main armed opposition officer said General Thoi Chany Reat, the deputy chief of defense forces for South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), led by the delegation whose visit was aimed at assessing the ongoing disagreements within the SPLA-IO for possible solutions.
However, in a statement this afternoon, South Sudan army spokesman Major-General Lul Ruai Koang denied the reported visit and said General Thoi Chany hasn’t visited the area controlled by General Simon Gatwech Dual’s forces.
“This statement serves to inform own forces and public at large that Gen. Thoi Chany Reat didn’t visit Magenis as alleged,” General Lul Ruai said in a statement seen by Sudans Post this afternoon.
