Baringo County Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Branch Secretary Dr Ismael Ayabei has said the members of his union will take to the streets from Wednesday if the County Government does not give them a response that favors them.
This comes a week after the doctors downed their tools on Monday last week in protest of delayed promotions of 75 doctors in the county, replacement of 13 doctors who were transferred and granting study leave to 6 doctors as 10 doctors who had gone for study leave were back.
Dr Ayabei who spoke to Baringo News this morning affirmed that the doctor’s strike is on in Baringo County as they are still awaiting feedback from the officer of th Governor and the County Public Service Board.
Already operations in major hospitals in the county have been paralized among them are Eldama Ravine Level 5 Hospital in Eldama Ravine Sub County and Baringo Referral Hospital in Kabarnet.
The public is feeling now the pinch being the 10th day since commencement of the doctors strike as in patients are not getting the ward rounds services conducted by doctors, no theaters are operational and the special clinics are not working as well.
The doctors went on strike a few days after the county government managed to quell the nurses strike which had paralyzed most of the medical services in the county.
