In a press statement issued today, Lul Ruai, spokesperson for the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), addressed the recent clashes with the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) that occurred around 4 PM at Nyainga-Muda, Bori Boma, Kangapo Two Payam, Kajo Keji County, in Central Equatoria State.

Ruai confirmed that both sides suffered casualties but refrained from disclosing specific numbers.

In an effort to restore peace, Ruai reveled that leaders from both armies have agreed on several de-escalation measures. These include an immediate cessation of all forms of hostilities,

The formation of a joint investigation committee to determine the circumstances leading to the confrontation, and the continuation of the established Joint Technical Border Committee’s work to seek peaceful resolutions to ongoing border issues.

This commitment to dialogue aims to prevent further conflict and promote stability in the region.
