IBy Gen John Sunday Martin
am not tribalistic, but a Patriot with Sense of fairness who wishes to point the bad images of tribalism, or tribal dominations government of the Republic of South Sudan is wrapped in. This is not with ill-intention, but for better understandings of issues affecting our national unity and stabilization.
Yes, I am not against any individuals in Government, or tribes in our society, but I have feelings backed by my intellect that, something is wrong in our Government, or Governance system, and that is the act of “tribalism and tribal Dominations”.
I know some of you might refute it, or even call me tribal, but you can do so because of your ‘tribal attitudes” and “tribal Senses” that might move you emotional as you read this. However, the fact still remain that, you can’t prove me wrong in terms of diagram, graphs, charts and figures if we are to publish the ethnic, or tribal compositions of leadership of the South Sudan Government.
Yes, If we are to publish the tribal or ethnic compositions of the current leadership of the Government of the Republic of South Sudan from Presidency, to the advisories, Ministries, Commissions, Diplomatic missions; including Security Sectors (organs); then we must all come into agreement that; there is tribal dominations, and tribalism in our system of government and leadership.
Hence, in such a situation of tribal dominations and tribalism; How do we expect peace and national unity when certain tribes dominates other tribes in governance? How do we consider our national justice system to be fair if some tribes, or members of our society feeling marginalized? how do we all have sense of belonging as one people and one nation when there is not only feelings, but actually practice of tribalism, and tribal dominations.
Therefore, I wish to argue us to accept without a shame that, there is tribalism and tribal dominations happening in our Country, special in Government sectors, and we have to act in protestations against it for the interests of our national Unity, Peace and Development.
In this regard, There is a need not to demolish the tribal wrapped Government and establish government that is shawl in inclusivity and equality, if people are to have senses of belonging, unity, peace and to avoid tribal related Conflicts that the South Sudan is experiencing.
