RUWENG, South Sudan, June 18 — Chief Administrator Stephano Wieu de Mialek on Wednesday dismissed and appointed 12 senior officials in the Ruweng Administrative Area, including advisors, ministers, and county commissioners, in a sweeping government reshuffle, June 18.
The changes included the removal of Hon. Paulino Wal Monychikat as advisor on economic affairs, Hon. Gabriel Wuor Jauch as minister for local development and law enforcement, and Hon. Lueth Achuil Miarial as minister for finance and planning. Four county commissioners were also dismissed in what appears to be a broad effort to reorganize regional leadership.
New appointees include Hon. Roges Chol Mayiik as advisor on economic affairs, Hon. Joseph Monythak Wal as minister for local development and law enforcement, and Hon. Simon Monytou Arop as minister for finance and planning. Monychikat was reappointed as commissioner of Awarpiny County.
No official reasons were given for the changes. However, the overhaul suggests Wieu de Mialek aims to enhance administrative efficiency and improve service delivery in the oil-producing region.
Ruweng, located in northern South Sudan, regularly undergoes political restructuring as part of broader efforts to stabilize governance and support development amid national reforms.
