The SPLM-IO in Unity State have accused Unity State governor Justice Riek Biem Tap of blocking the activities of their party in Rubkona County.
In a Press Release, the SPLM-IO said the state governor deployed security operatives to the venue where the IO was scheduled to launch the County’s Secretariat offices last Saturday, 15th Feb.
It accused its peace partner SPLM-IG in violating the 2018 R-ARCSS that led to the formation of the Unity government.
“The SPLM-IO in Unity State would like to equally inform the General Public that the Governor of the Unity State is clearly acting contrary with the spirit of peace which is what is expected of him as a Governor of the Revitalize Peace Agreement”, said the statement.
It further accused governor Biem of acting aggressively despite a notification to him on the event prior to the expected launch.
The SPLM-IO says it has made an appeal to the Revitalize Transitional Government of the National Unity, all peace mechanism and media houses on what it calls ‘a dismay’, the recent decision made by the Governor who is administering Unity State on the SPLM-IG ticket.
