Juba, 24 Jan. 2025 (CESGPU) – H.E. Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, the Governor of Central Equatoria State on Thursday was briefed on the recent incident that took place in Lualla Boma of Lobonok Payam where hundreds of people got displaced.
Hon. Emmanuel Tete Ezbon, the Commissioner of Juba County, chiefs, women and youth representatives of Lobonok explained to the Governor that last Sunday a soldier got killed in Lualla Boma by unknown person. Following the killing, soldiers in the area reacted by burning houses and beating people in the area. As a result, sixty-eight households were affected resulting to displacement of eight hundred forty-three people.
On Monday the Governor sent Commissioner Tete with food aid to the affected population and also to ascertain facts on the ground following the incident.
Governor Jadalla called the people of Lobonok to “dialogue”. He pledged to address the insecurity in the area, adding there is need to enhance civil-military relations in the area.
Hon. Tete said the government is working on all options to “ensure that stability returns to the area so that the civilians” camping at a church currently return to their residences and start preparing for agricultural activities ahead of the wet season.
Tartisio Ladu Lojuron, Executive Chief of Lobonok Payam said that the humanitarian situation on the ground is dire. “There is need for supplies of tents, blankets, drugs and other necessary basic needs,” said Ladu.
