In  statement seen by Thejubamirror News Desk in Juba  the People’s  coalition  for Civil Action  (PCCA) strongly  condemns  the recent government  decision to shut down the social media platforms  in South Sudan . This  decision  constitutes  balant  violation  of fundamental human rights   including  freedom of expression  and access  to information  granted by our constitutions . this  action is a clear  demonstration  of the  autocratic   rule  exercised by this regime        and  alarming  escalation  in efforts  to silence  descent curtail civic and political  spaces  and stifle the voices  of South Sudanese  citizens and frankly, it is a violation of  the R- ARCSS .

The internet , particularly  social media, is vital  tool communication  dialogue and the exchange of ideas  in modern  society. By blocking  access  to these platforms,  the  government  has   denied  millions of South Sudanese  citizens  the ability  to connect  with  one another. Share  their  views and hold their leaders accountable.  This decision  is particularly unfortunate  as the  government  is still  involved  in  the Tumaini Initiative .This  shut downs  does not just harm individual  freedoms ,  it undermines  the country’s democratic  progress  and  tarnishes  its  reputation on the  international stage obviously  will  cripple  the economy,

We understand the inherent fear this  government  has  for social media  because  last week it saw the  power of the people  of South Sudan .The regime  is  shaken  by  the ability  of the people of South Sudan  to come together  to raise  questions  about  the apparent  failure  of government.

The   PCCA  calls  on the  government  of South Sudan   to immediately  reverse  its  decision  to restrict social media and respect  the constitutional  rights of its people. We also urge  the international  community to pressure  the government  to restore access  and upholds  its  commitments  to human rights .

At  a time when South Sudan  faces  critical  challenges  including  ongoing conflicts  economic instability and humanitarian crises ’s  the   government  must  prioritize dialogue  and unity, not  repression  social media  platforms  provide  an essential  space  for these conservations  and are  critical to fostering the stability  the Nation desperately needs .

The PCCA  reaffirms its  unwavering  commitment   to advocating for the rights  and freedoms of the  South Sudanese  people .We stand in solidarity  with all citizens affected  by this  unjust  shutdown  and urge  all stakeholders  to join us in  condemning  this attack on democracy  and freedom of expression  The PCCA  calls   upon  all citizens  to be on the standby to take a decisive  action if the  government  fails to reverse this. undemocratic  decision
