The Vice President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council,
Malik Agar Eyre has released a statement expressing concern over the recent criminal incident in Wad Medani, Gezira State. The statement condemned the “barbarous attacks” that resulted in the loss of innocent lives to whom are South Sudanese.
In response to the incident, the government of Sudan has condemned the attacks.
Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council, has established a fact-finding committee to investigate the events. Authorities have pledged to ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable and brought to justice.
Vice President Malik Agar called on affected communities in both Sudan and South Sudan to maintain calm and avoid acts of retaliation, despite the emotional impact of the events. He emphasized the importance of refraining from taking the law into one’s hands.
The statement also commended the efforts of the South Sudanese government to protect innocent civilians amid the unrest. It underscored the shared commitment of both nations to safeguard lives and prevent further violence.
“No one is allowed to take the law into their own hands,” the Vice President asserted, concluding his statement with a call for peace and unity between Sudan and South Sudan.
