In statement from office of Spokesperson of South Sudan National Police Services col. John Kassara Koang Nhial seen by Thejubamirror news Desk the security situation in Juba is relatively calm and normal despite Col. Koang give updates about ongoing situations in the country .
The general security situation is calm and stable in the whole country for the last 24 hours. The States and Administrative areas registered offences mostly criminal cases and isolated offences that are related to social violence. However, the rate of crimes dropped down today than yesterday crime statistics.
On 17 Jan 2025 at around 6:00am, the C.I.D in Juba managed to rescued 551 Sudanese foreign nationals residing in Juba city and they are currently in their premises. On the same day at around 12:00pm to 5:30pm, the police personnel assigned to Juba teaching hospital managed to register a total number of 13 South Sudanese who were shot and injured in a crossfire in different locations within Juba city during the demonstration and looting of the shops by an angry South Sudanese as a counter-revenge of the killing of innocent South Sudanese in Wad Medani of Gezira State of Sudan by the Sudan Army Forces. Meanwhile 9 people died in Awiel town as a result of violence demonstration carried by an unidentified angry South Sudanese, among these 9 people, 2 were South Sudanese and 7 were Sudanese Foreign Nationals.
The unidentified angry demonstrators looted properties in Awiel town market, Awiel East market, Awiel North market, Awiel west market and Awiel East county market and no incident of demonstration registered in Awiel Center county and Awiel South county
On 17 Jan 2025 at around 11:00am, a 18 year old male was shot and injured on his left hand in a crossfire at Turabyei residential area of Kuajok town and the unidentified demonstrators looted 23 shops in Kuajok market while the Sudanese shops in Tonj South county were looted all.
On 17 Jan 2025 at around 7:40pm, a dead body of unidentified woman was found along roadside at Gudele block 4 residential area. The cause of her death isn’t yet established by the police and the dead body was transported to Juba funeral home.
A criminal case was opened in Gudele police division and an investigation is going on.
On 17 Jan 2025, the Central Equatoria State’s police hosted 278 Sudanese foreign nationals in which 243 are adults and 35 are children.
We are assuring the public that the police will continue to fulfill it’s duty by protecting all persons against illegal acts with degree of responsibility.
