Hon. Deng Malek is a humble and exemplary politician who has faced criticism at various functions. However, his humility and charismatic leadership skills prevent him from responding to these attacks. Recently, he was inaccurately labeled as a significant obstacle by some disloyal politicians in the Twic East community.
Hon. Deng Dau Malek has no issues with the Twic East community’s proposed leader, Dr. Majak de Agot Atem, or Gen. Philip Aguer Panyang. Both Hon. Deng Dau Malek and Gen. Philip Aguer are members of the Ajuong community, and despite the different section names within Ajuong, they consider themselves brothers.
Dr. Majak de Agot Atem has created divisions within Wundit Paker before aligning himself with the Bour community and the Bahr el Ghazal community. He frequently blames Hon. Deng Dau Malek for his failure to secure a position. I recall that Dr. Majak de Agot Atem declined the appointment as deputy minister of defense, citing his ambition for the top position in the country. In contrast, Hon. Deng Dau Malek is willing to accept any position in service to the people of South Sudan, which is why he remains a part of President Kiir Mayardit’s government. But ambitious Dr. Majak de Agot Atem, who has always aimed high, will remain just as he is because he has no agenda for the people of South Sudan.
