Juba-South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday called upon South Sudanese to embrace peace, and unity in his Christmas message.
“Let this holiday be a time when we come together in a shared commitment to a peaceful, prosperous, and united South Sudan. As we celebrate this Christmas, may we carry the message of peace and hope in our hearts into the New Year,” Kiir said in his Christmas message.
Kiir emphasized that Christmas is not only a significant day for Christians around the world but also a moment for everyone to reflect on the shared values of love, peace, and unity.
“As we prepare to celebrate this season, we are reminded of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to bring peace and goodwill to all people. As the Bible tells us in the book of Luke, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
He also urged families to embrace spirit of peace, kindness, and forgiveness amide economic challenges.
“These words are as powerful today as they were two thousand years ago. They remind us that Christmas is not just about celebration but also about embracing the true spirit of peace, kindness, and forgiveness despite the challenges we have faced this year,” he said.
He reassured the pubic of government readiness to prioritized their safety and security, during Christmas festival, especially the travelers.
“The government is committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment, not only during the festive season but throughout the year.”
