JUBA, Nov. 28 — The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) has issued a stern warning to officers of organized forces to refrain from engaging in political activities. The statement, obtained by The Juba Mirror News, follows concerns raised by Lt. Gen. Garang Akol Ayii, Director General for Procurement and co-chairman of the Joint Defense Board (JDB), regarding the involvement of officers from the South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) in partisan politics.
The officers in question are awaiting the unification of the second echelon of command. Consultations with SSPDF Chief of Defense Forces, who also serves as JDB Co-chairman, highlighted the adverse effects of such political engagement on the nation’s stability and the unification process.
“These officers are hereby strongly warned to immediately desist from such malpractices and cease all forms of harmful social media activities,” the statement read. The SSPDF cautioned that any failure to comply with these directives would lead to disciplinary and punitive measures, including forfeiture of opportunities to integrate into the unified organized forces.
This warning underscores SSPDF’s commitment to maintaining a politically neutral and professional military amid ongoing efforts to consolidate the country’s defense forces
