JUBA, South Sudan, Oct. 1, 2024 — Gen. Stephen Buay Rolnyang, leader of the South Sudan People’s Movement/Army (SSPM/A), has announced the appointment of Cde Bush Akech Chol as the new spokesperson for the SSPM/A. Chol, the former Secretary for Political Affairs and Mobilization of the South Sudan United Front – Progressive (SSUF-P), led by General Dr. Emmanuel Sunday De John, joined SSPM/A along with his team this week.
In a statement welcoming Chol, Gen. Buay expressed his excitement for the new addition, praising the collective mission to advance the cause of the South Sudanese people. The SSPM/A, a rebel group formed to challenge political oppression, corruption, and human rights abuses, emphasized its dedication to changing the nation’s trajectory.
The SSPM/A is currently involved in the Tumaini (Hope) initiative, participating in peace negotiations in Nairobi, Kenya. The group remains committed to the ongoing peace process, seeking a resolution to South Sudan’s long-standing challenges.
“We are determined to achieve peace and address the struggles our country has faced for over two decades,” said Buay. “This unity will help restore the goals we have fought for over the past 21 years.”
