JUBA, Sept. 7, 2024 — The Central Equatoria State Council of Ministers has approved a budget of 45 billion South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The budget, presented by Finance and Investment Minister Viana Kakuli, was approved during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Governor Gen. Augustino Jadalla Wani.
The approved budget represents a 60% increase over last year’s allocation. The Cabinet instructed the State Minister of Finance and Investment to implement the budget immediately.
Acting Information Minister Gerald Francis, who also serves as Peacebuilding Minister, announced the approval following the Cabinet’s weekly meeting on Thursday. “The total resource envelope for the state is 45.1 billion SSP. The allocations were properly done and critically scrutinized by all council members,” Francis said.
He added that the new state leadership is focusing on a cooperative movement, with significant funding allocated to the Ministry of Cooperative and Rural Development, as well as the Ministry of Agriculture.
