The embassy expressed support for the ongoing efforts of humanitarian workers, both South Sudanese and foreign, who continue their vital work despite significant challenges. The statement also called on South Sudan’s transitional government to reduce the risks associated with delivering humanitarian aid and to ensure safe access to those in need.
With approximately 9 million people in South Sudan currently requiring assistance, the United States has provided over $508 million in humanitarian aid this year, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the South Sudanese people.
