JUBA, South Sudan, Aug. 14, 2024 — President Salva Kiir expressed deep sorrow following the death of Ambassador Lt. Gen. Bior Ajang Duot, who passed away on Aug. 13, 2024. Lt. Gen. Duot, born on Jan. 1, 1948, in Kongor, Twic East County, was the son of the late Paramount Chief of Kongor, Sultan Ajang Duot.
In 1 page statement issued to The Jubamirror News, President Kiir described Lt. Gen. Duot as a “battle-hardened war hero” who played a significant role in the liberation struggle. “We have lost a freedom fighter, a leader, and a strategic thinker whose historic contributions will be remembered by generations,” Kiir said.
President Kiir called for prayers to give strength to the family of the deceased during this difficult time. “My deepest sympathies go out to Gen. Bior’s family, his relatives, the Twic East community, and all South Sudanese. He served with utmost dedication until his passing,” he added.
