JUBA, Aug. 14, 2024 — General Bior Ajang Duot, former deputy chief of defense for the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and chairman of the Twic community, passed away in Juba on the night of Aug. 13. His death has sparked an outpouring of grief from family, friends, and the wider South Sudanese diaspora.
General Bior Ajang, a veteran and freedom fighter, was a prominent figure in South Sudan’s military and community affairs. His passing occurred under unclear circumstances at his residence in the capital. Concerns about the care of veterans like General Bior have been raised by close associates, though they have chosen to remain anonymous.
