Your Excellency, Mr. President,
Salutations,
I write to bring to your attention a critical issue regarding the representation of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State (NBGS) in national civil service senior posts. Despite being a highly populated state with significant SPLM support, NBGS currently lacks equal representation in public service, particularly following the recent dismissal of Comrade Engineer Peter Kuot Jiel, the former undersecretary of the Ministry of Roads and Bridges.
According to Article 21(2) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, “Everyone has the right to equal access to public service in his/her country.” This principle is not being upheld in the case of NBGS, which now has no undersecretary representing it at the national level. This disparity needs to be addressed to ensure fair representation of all states in senior public service appointments.
Your leadership is urgently needed to rectify this situation, ensuring a balanced distribution of posts among states. NBGS, with its loyal and capable civil servants, deserves to have its qualified individuals considered for leadership roles in the civil service.
In conclusion, I urge you to carry out a review of the current representation statistics and take necessary action to address this concern. The people of NBGS look to your leadership for justice and equality in representation.
Sincerely,
Ater Garang Ariath
Patriotic Aweil son
