JUBA, South Sudan, Aug. 9, 2024 – Church leaders from the Duk and Wanglei Inter-Church Committee for Peace have called for unity and reconciliation within their communities. In a press statement released after a period of prayer and fasting, the bishops and priests reaffirmed their commitment to fostering genuine reconciliation, emphasizing their unity under the blood of Jesus Christ, according to the statement extended to The Juba Mirror.
The religious leaders strongly condemned acts of violence, urging community members to repent from the practice of killing. “We, the united body of Christ, will not condone anyone who sheds the blood of another. The spilling of innocent blood brings a curse on the nation,” the statement read.
