JUBA- A former Malong’s led-SSUF/A military spokesman, Col. Philip Deng Kuol Nguot hits back at his former boss Gen. Paul Malong Awan in an interview with Thejubamirror this morning. When asked about what could be the move of Gen. Paul Malong in exile despites being his former mouthpiece, Col. Philip Deng Kuol described Gen. Malong as a state enemy and hungry mind who is always thirsty for power. “You know, since we left him last year and joined President Kiir,
I have been no longer having any idea about Malong’s current moves, but to recall this back to you, remember, once he was the army chief, his all plans were to unseat President Kiir from office and install himself as the President of the Republic;” Deng reveals. “Malong himself during his tenure as the SPLA now SSPDF Chief of Staff, used to load vehicles full of military personnels and forcefully take out a big sum of money from different banks in a day broad light in the capital Juba; so, how corrupt do you think is he”? Philip asks. “Anyway, the country has been free so far since Malong escaped to Nairobi after failing to unseat President Kiir from office.” He further stresses to Thejubamirror. Philip declined to comment on the current status of the Tumaini Kenya-led peace talks, saying he is not the right person to talk about that, but acknowledges government’s commitment to the then Nairobi Peace Initiative. In the late July, parties involved in the Kenya-led Tumaini Initiative peace process, including the SSOMA, SUNA, and the R-TGoNU government had signed eight critical protocols, but progress of the talks in Nairobi seems hampered following the withdrawal of Machar’s main armed opposition group from participating from the talks.
