JUBA, South Sudan, Aug. 2, 2024 — H.E. Christian Sedat, German Ambassador to South Sudan, met with Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, South Sudan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, to discuss bilateral relations and the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement.
“We had a productive discussion, among other topics, about the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement and the current Tumaini initiative. Germany encourages and welcomes efforts aimed at finding inclusive consensus by all relevant parties on questions of the Peace Agreement and the upcoming elections,” Sedat said. He reiterated the call made by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during her visit to Juba in January, emphasizing the importance of consensus among political leaders.
The ambassador reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to South Sudan, highlighting its position as the second-largest bilateral donor. “Germany remains a steadfast partner,” Sedat said. “Just last week, we handed over a new water-supply system in Torit funded by Germany with about $2 million, providing more than 40,000 people access to clean drinking water.”
