JUBA CITY, South Sudan – South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit sacked the Chief Administrator in the Office of the President and announced a replacement Monday evening.
In a decree aired on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Cooperation (SSBC), Kiir dismissed Yel Kuol Kur and named Daniel Madit Malek as the new Chief Administrator. The reason for Kuol’s dismissal remains unclear. Kuol, an ex-convict who served time at Juba National Prison for embezzling funds from the president’s office during his tenure as Executive Director, was appointed to the position in December 2023.
Kur’s firing marks a significant shake-up in the president’s office. Malek’s appointment aims to bring stability and integrity to the administration.
