Athiak Dau’s family has announced their decision to accept Chol Marol Deng’s marriage proposal, ending a month-long period of negotiations and competition with Marial Garang Jiel.

Athiak, an 18-year-old from Jonglei State, became the center of attention with her suitors offering substantial dowries. Marial Garang Jiel had pledged 105 cows and 65 million South Sudanese pounds to secure her hand in marriage.
