JUBA – South Sudan’s President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a series of presidential decrees on Friday night, resulting in the dismissal of the Executive Director in the Office of the President and his private secretary.
In his first decree, broadcasted on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC), President Kiir relieved Kiir Lol Yor Lual from his position as the executive director, a role he had held since his appointment last year.
In another decree announced on the same broadcaster, Kiir appointed Simon Juach Deng, South Sudan’s ambassador to Uganda, as the new executive director.
He hails from Kiir’s home-state of Warrap.
Additionally, President Kiir terminated the services of his private secretary, Bang Wieu Koor, and appointed Atak Santino Majak as his replacement.
No official reasons were provided by the head of state for these personnel changes.
