Red Card Movement South Sudan Issues 72-Hour Ultimatum for Release of Former Mayor Khalisto Lado Wani or Nationwide Protests Will Ensue
The Red Card Movement South Sudan demands the immediate release of former Mayor Khalisto Lado Wani. We give the authorities a 72-hour ultimatum to comply. Failure to do so will lead to nationwide protests.
Khalisto Lado Wani, a respected public servant and key figure in Juba City’s development, was unjustly detained on 30th March 2024. We believe his arrest is politically motivated, violating his fundamental rights as per national and international Human Rights frameworks.
We urge the government to respect the rule of law, uphold justice, and unconditionally release Khalisto Lado Wani. Suppressing citizens’ rights will face strong resistance.
In the event the authorities fail to meet our ultimatum, the Red Card Movement South Sudan will mobilize for peaceful demonstrations nationwide. Our protests will amplify the people’s voices and demand justice and accountability.
We call upon the international community, human rights organizations, and all democracy advocates to stand with us. Together, we can hold our leaders accountable.
