JUBA, 17 November 2023 (PPU): President Kiir on Friday directed the new Police Chief to ensure a strong discipline and professionalism in the Police Service at all times.
President Kiir was speaking while presiding over the swearing in ceremony of the new Inspector General of Police Gen. Atem Marol Biar and Presidential Advisor on Peace, Moses Gatkuoth Lony.
The oath taking ceremony was administered by the Chief Justice Chan Reec Madut.
The Head of State said “what we are doing is shaping the way for us to move to one direction of building a peaceful, united and develop South Sudan”.
The Minister of Presidential Affairs Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin encouraged the new officials to promote the unity among the people of South Sudan.
Interior Minister Angelina Teny expressed her Ministry’s readiness to provide adequate security to the civil Population.
The Deputy Minister of Interior, David Marial Gumke said the Police has a prime responsibility to provide a conducive environment for the citizens during election.
Atem replaced Gen. Majak Akec Malok, who has been in the Police docket for the last 6 years.
