In a recent development, the military spokesman for the South Sudan People’s Army (SSPA), Maj.Gen Mahafis Manyang Hoth, vehemently denied any intentions to launch an attack in Mayom county and Unity State. Speaking to ThejubaMirror News, Maj.Gen Hoth clarified that the SSPA has no plans for aggression in the mentioned areas.
Addressing concerns about their forces’ positioning, the SSPA spokesman emphasized that they are not alone at the border with Sudan. Rather, their troops are an integral part of the entire country. Maj.Gen Hoth affirmed that if their positions face any form of attack, they will retaliate and defend themselves. However, at present, they are firmly holding their positions within Unity State and beyond.
Expressing disappointment, the military spokesman accused certain media houses of disseminating unverified information regarding the alleged plans of attack in Mayom. He urged for responsible journalism and cautioned against the harmful impact of spreading unreliable news.
