When the interests override reality, truth and facts on the ground, only innocent people feel the heat and anxiety. South Sudan, a virgin nation blessed with wide-ranging untapped minerals in the region, has always remained politically divided and become a battleground for the world powers and the never ending conflict of interests over its leadership and development. As the country continues to suffer one of the worst seasons of political turmoil, wild rumors and hatred, successful people are currently being rounded off to pave way for the illiterate opportunists who are always there to destroy what has been built.
The trading of accusations, mistrust, and grudges among the military generals, politicians and the League of Communities would not help the country to move forward, instead, it is inciting conflicts and might plunge the country into further chaos. The interest groups and the war perpetrators have seriously undermined others with genuine perspectives on economic and security development in the country. Nearly five years into the revitalized agreement, the political conflicts, individual grudges, and power struggle had deeply taken roots in the government wing of executives and more especially in the sensitive areas of Military Intelligence, National Security and the Presidential Guards of Tiger Division.
In one latest frustration, desperation and disappointment spearheaded by the schemers, the innocent bureaucrat – Gen. Akol Koor who has successfully turned around his institution to the satisfaction of everyone is currently being vilified by some shoddy personalities who are away far from his match and who resorted to hating him because of his rise on merit. It is apparently becoming a taboo in South Sudan that a successful leader is properly utilized and later brushed aside for the spoilers to go through and destroy what had been built. Instead, such gifted characters should be elevated to speed up some pending projects in other institutions.
To move you through facts and realities, Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, the current Director General of the National Security Service (ISB) – widely known as the key spectator in safeguarding Government officials, is a man of outstanding history and a lot of achievements in South Sudan. The security expert, Gen. Akol Koor, like his other Comrades, joined the Revolutionary War of the SPLA against Arabs of Khartoum in the 1980s and he immensely contributed to the liberation struggles until the right for self-determination in South Sudan was achieved. He performs to the best of his core whenever and wherever he has been tasked with an assignment since the days of the liberation struggle up-to-date. Most of his tasks are always executed perfectly and cautiously. This justifies the stalemate between him and his bragging rivals and critics.
Retrospectively and through the living references in the Republic of South Sudan, Gen. Akol Koor had excelled, consistently fought and worked harder alongside his Comrades for the sovereignty of the people of South Sudan right from the inception of SPLA. Apart from his exposure to the frontlines during the dark days of 21 years of civil war, he served as Tonj North County Commissioner during the war time and towards 2004, before the signing of Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). While serving as a County Commissioner, Gen. Akol Koor managed to achieve many things in Tonj North County in Warrap State that lived to be cited as references and history today. Records of his tangible achievements are there for verification in SPLA/SPLM/SSPDF and other institutions, minds and hearts of the majority of South Sudanese and internationals who are rational and sound-minded.
After relief from his duties in the County Commissionership, he was later deployed to Khartoum as a Security Officer in charge of myriads and delicate secret services for Southern Sudan Government under Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit as President. Gen. Akol’s dedication to his job in Khartoum following his previous tremendous contributions to local government and his unwavering loyalty among other things that greatly accrued to his appointment as the head of close protection to H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit and immediately transcended into his bigger assignment as South Sudan’s first Director General of the Internal Security Bureau in the NSS of South Sudan, a docket he had brightly surpassed his pears. With his broad knowledge, experience and technical know-how in the security sector, Gen. Akol redoubled his efforts in building ISB & GIB from almost zero and laid a historic solid foundation for the National Security Institutions both ISB & GIB, the two Intelligence branches of our nascent Country while giving necessary urgent supports to Police and other military units countryside.
National Security Service now generates its income, best policy and well-disciplined manpower, the most noticeable and organised Armed Secret Service Institution in South Sudan with both regional and international standards as seen by its sophisticated facilities and tools. National Security as a government institution is now the most disciplined security organization with respect to its systems, logistics, equipment, merits and correspondences. This could be cheaply viewed as rocket science, but it is just holding people to account and strictly enforcing laws without compromise on individual malpractices to achieve national agenda. It is indisputable.
Under President Kiir’s leadership guidance, his formidable security teams and friends around the globe, National Security works within the framework of the system and this is why Gen. Akol Koor vigorously stood to defend the Constitutional Legitimacy of the Republic of South Sudan in 2013 and 2016 respectively including the invisible dangerous conspiracies manoeuvred against him. With the constant subversive schemes, prejudices and campaigns which are framed against the top leadership of NSS, the most calm man – DG Akol Koor stood his ground firmly and professionally disprove the smearing groups indebted to tarnish his image and undermine his loyalty for the benefit of their own, however, he is focused on how to overcome these security challenges happening within and in some parts of African Nations, Middle East and Asia where governments are being overthrown by their own military.
In a different development, Gen. Akol Koor some years back without enough resources, started sponsoring students when he was just a commissioner of Tonj North County, the human development strategy he kept alive up to today. He sent many students to primary school, secondary schools, universities and other short courses learning in the countryside and foreign countries where students were able to successfully attain quality education and skills while others are still on his education scholarship. His divine objective is to provide opportunities and see government institutions led by qualified academics for the progress of this great nation.
Dear esteemed readers, my claims are verifiable, valid facts, living testimonies and substantial shreds of evidence to those skeptical. Moreover, Gen. Akol Koor is a reformer and transformer with huge experience in social, military and political aspects, his steadfastness is seen in the people he had built, organizations he had successfully managed, and homes and families he built from the scratch over the past years not only for himself but for his organization, government and public spheres. As we speak, there are groups of young people who are socially and economically stable in his support to build people positively unlike other selfish dignitaries who do not work to promote young people to assume the future in some years to come. Gen. Akol Koor is a man who we can count on when it comes to institutional building of organizations from scratch to strength, from nothing to history.
Having highlighted these achievements about the progress made by Gen. Akol Koor, this does not mean he is hundred percent perfect. There are some of issues and problems associated with the organization he heads, in connection to the orders he executes and the decisions he makes. I am truly aware of nasty things being said online and in some political events against him and his workplace in the past 12 years. Such malicious fabrications on him are part of survival by some jobless groups and oppositions and others who are doing it out of jealousy. In this world, it is harder to earn appreciation for what you do best. You will still get critics for a job well done. That is what facing him.
The majority of his critics are from groups of people and organizations who have repeatedly failed to weaken the Government of South Sudan, and of course to unseat the elected President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit. Some of these unconstructive critics are strategically focusing on tarnishing the image of Gen. Akol Koor and the Security Sector simply for being the government’s protector. It is also a trick to frustrate Akol Koor so that he may resign or commit a terrible mistake that could damage his reputation and career in order to get rid of him by those who perceived him as a threat to their illegal games. They are doing it to achieve their intentions but, their agenda will miserably fail.
In conclusion, Gen. Akol Koor is the right-hand man of President Salva Kiir Mayardit who truly acts to protect the Constitution and Integrity of South Sudan. Presently, South Sudan enemies and interest-based individuals are striving day and night to forge a rift between the father of the nation, H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic and Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, the Director General of ISB. These elements are propelling a dangerous agenda, a plan of how to expunge the current Leadership of President Salva Kiir, with his strong inner circles, in efforts to fundamentally capitalize on the adage, “hitting two birds with one stone theory.” This sinister program by those selfish people and organisations become crystally clear and will be given deaf ears by H.E President Salva Kiir and the patriotic people of this country. Last but not least – Gen. Akol Koor seems to be a bad bureaucrat but it is because his workplace/Blue House is tasked to be a regulator temporary as the nation is working on its permanent Consitution. We all know how sometimes groups of people and organizations hate and protest against certain parts of the Constitution in other countries even in developed nations like France, China and Russia even in parts of African countries. Exactly this is what is happening in South Sudan, some people and organizations are airing out their vicious feelings against Gen. Akol Koor and his Organization.
