The Governor of Western Equatoria State H.E. Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba today 8th June 2023 has given one week Cattle keepers to leave Western Equatoria State particularly Greater Mundri.
This comes after governor Futuyo met with leaders of both Cattle keepers and Farmers in the area who had dispute.
Governor Futuyo said this is what can bring peace among the communities.
“Cattle keepers must leave, and this should happen within 7days and i am going to stay here till all of you cattle keepers are gone, if you dont want i will use force, we don’t reject your presence, but cattles are our problem”
“For you the communities, do not take law into your hands, if there is any misunderstanding, government will handle this is to you both Cattle keepers and farmers” Governor Futuyo advices.
Meanwhile the Chief of Cattle Keepers Deng Mawut welcomed the decision and confirmed that they will leave to their village and will not come back to mundri.
Deng said the first team has crossed to the border and the last team are on the way going.
Currently Governor Futuyo is in Kotobi Payam of Mundri West addressing the dispute between Cattle keepers and farmers in the area,, this order of the Governor comes after the communities of Greater Mundri raised complaints about cattles destroying their farms.
The communities of Western Equatoria State depend mostly on agricultural produces as their source of income.
