Joseph Dudi, a South Sudanese refugee hailing from Kakuma Refugee Camp, has achieved an extraordinary feat by graduating from Harvard University in Cambridge, MA in the United States. Joseph, who received a scholarship, obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, marking a significant milestone in his education journey.
Joseph’s pursuit of education began when he was enrolled as a pupil at Palotaka Primary School within the confines of Kakuma Refugee Camp back in 2002.
Despite the challenging circumstances, he displayed remarkable determination and resilience. In 2014, he successfully completed his secondary education at Ihithe Secondary School, achieving an impressive A- grade in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
Following his graduation, Joseph devoted two years to teaching and engaging in voluntary work within the camp. He served as an enumerator for Food for the Hungry (FH), a shelter monitor for the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), and a part-time tutor. In early 2017, he received acceptance into the prestigious Bridge2Rwanda Scholars Program (B2R) for the class of 2018, marking the beginning of his transformative journey.
