Juba, 8th May 2023- SSOA has agreed to swap Jonglei State Governorship with SPLM. SSOA will now take the position of the Deputy Governor.
The decision was reached after President Kiir tasked the leadership of SSOA to find an option to address the simmering governance crisis in Jonglei State.
Speaking to the media the Minister of Higher Education Gabriel Changson Chang who is a senior member of SSOA says they are contended with the new arrangement for the sake of restoring peace and a functional administration in Jonglei State.
According to the new arrangement, SSOA will take up a Ministerial position in the National Government and a Special Envoy position and the deputy Governor of Jonglei.
President Kiir is expected to effect the changes in the coming days.
