. Mariak, who has been trending on social media for scamming a South Sudanese man based in the USA with a whopping $13,000, is a prime example of what can happen when you don’t exercise caution online.
According to sources, Mariak, living in Bor, Jonglei had been using a fake Facebook account with the name Akech Mabior. He had been posting pictures of himself dressed like a lady, complete with
makeup and all. The Dinka Bor man he was dating had been wanting to send his brothers over to see “her” physically, but Mariak would always decline and ask for money instead. When the American man sent the money, Mariak was caught red-handed by the man’s brothers who were nearby.
