CEPO acknowledged and appreciates the effective role South Sudan government is playing on reaching ceasefire agreement among the warring parties of Sudan
Mr Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of Cepo says the leaders of Sudanese warring parties to urgently accept ceasefire immediately and accept humanitarian assistance and respect safety and protection of civilians. IGAD sand AU leadership should add pressure for the Sudanese warring parties to accept genuine ceasefire and IGAD and AU should pressured the allies of the Sudanese warring parties in the neighborhood, region and the global.
CEPO is urging the allies of the Sudan warring parties to support the warring parties to accept ceasefire in genuine manner now not tomorrow. Mr Yakani stressed
Finally CEPO aid urging the presidents of IGAD sand African Union to have one stand on resolution of Sudan ongoing violence. We already witnessed some IGAD members move for undermining the role tasked to South Sudan president to lead the efforts of IGAD for mediating the Sudan in ongoing war. Our experiences of this political attitudes of some IGAD and AU leaders during the South Sudan peace mediation is bad and contributed in prolonging the peace mediation because lack of consensus among IGAD and AU. CEPO is urging the IGAD member that are beginning move of undermining South Sudan role in the mediation of Sudan war to stop that immediately.
